
On this blog I’ve discussed some of the issues facing professional eSports, including lack of diversity. My own company, MegaFans seeks to do its part to tackle this problem, but we’re certainly not alone in our efforts.
Enter Delane Parnell—at just 26 he is the founder and CEO of PlayVs a Santa Monica-based tech startup that seeks to create high school varsity eSports leagues across the United States. Parnell, who is African American, got the idea to woo high school talent after building up and selling his own league. Just like traditional sports, eSports needs a pipeline of young, skilled players to recruit from, and that’s exactly the void PlayVs is positioning itself to fill.
